| Victory -- UAW Style
In the past year dozens of plants were closed in the US. Thousands of UAW members lost their jobs. Delphi declared bankruptcy, forcing thousands to take buyouts. Other UAW members were forced to accept painful healthcare and retirement cuts.
So the UAW sprang into action.
In 2005 it spent $22,000 of its members' money for souvenir keychains, $5100 for a retirement video, and more than $40,000 for bowling tournaments. Is that where the UAW's priorities are?
At June's UAW Convention in Las Vegas -- another way the UAW is saving money -- chief Ron Gettlefinger went back in time four years to call the JCI strike and neutrality agreement that followed a "victory" that led to "similar partnership agreements with Collins and Aikman, Dana, Plastech and others."
Whose victory, Ron? The 2300 JCIers who were laid off in Holland and Zeeland in the 2005??
