Federal Mogul 1, Greenville Employees 0

The good news?  Federal-Mogul will keep its plant in Greenville open, saving 310 jobs.

The bad news?  The UAW "won" a contract for employees that cuts wages by $1.19 per hour over the next four years, and cuts paid holidays by four days per year.

Don Oetman, the United Auto Workers regional director, said members "made the tough choices necessary to keeping Federal-Mogul in Greenville."

After a "stand-up" vote where members rejected the contract presented by the UAW by 160 to 22, Oetman said that the stand-up vote was invalid and a secret ballot election would be necessary.

Interesting -- for the regional director of a union that works to abridge workers rights to a secret ballot election when it meets their needs.
