| Read the
JCI Employee Handbook Lately?
JCI Holland employees might want to take a close
look at the current Johnson Controls Automotive Systems Group Employee
Handbook.
On page 4, under "What We Value," it
states that "We (JCI) do what we say we will do..."
Good start!
On page 6, under the "Employee Bill of Rights,"
it says that you can expect "to receive pertinent information
about your job, and issues and events related to the work place."
So JCI Management will certainly be showing
us the Neutrality Agreement it signed with the UAW, since that
certainly affects our jobs.
On page 27, under "Solicitation and Distribution,"
it says that "solicitation within Johnson Controls facilities
or on Johnson Controls grounds is restricted... solicitation is
not permitted in work areas at any time."
So JCI Management will clearly not allow
professional union organizers to sell the services of the UAW
on JCI premises.
On page 33, under "Pay for Performance,"
it says "Johnson Controls rewards employees according to their
performance -- not service time or some other rigidly defined measure."
So JCI would certainly never want to agree
to a rigidly defined measure like a union contract.
Most of all, on page 7, under "Our Human Resources
Philosophy," it says "We believe it is better to deal
with each other directly than through a third party, since the involvement
of an outside third party would only serve to disrupt communications
and problem resolution."
What a relief! And we thought JCI
might actually favor a union.
